Acknowledging some who have helped me grow as a limerick writer.
Phil Graham, aka The Limericist, has hosted many of my limericks on his own site for several years. I wouldn't be the limerick writer I am today if not for him. There are some other very talented limerick writers who post there too. Phil is also a co-author of Limericks in the Time of Trump.
I know an old poet, Phil Graham
And this is how I would portray him
Foremost among mentors
For young verse inventors
Is this proper homage to pay him?
Also, there was a time where my limerick production fell off a cliff. Then I was introduced to Mad Kane's Humor Blog, where she hosts a contest every two weeks. It got my creative juices flowing again. I've been entering ever since.
At one time I was wracking my brain
When composing a verse, ’twas in vain
I’ve recovered my muse
Which I feared I would lose
And it’s all thanks to Madeleine Kane.
I'd be remiss if I didn't include a note of thanks for Suzanne Heymann, a talented wordsmith I met through Madeleine's above contest. She doesn't have her own site, but now contributes to the two linked above.. She, too, has helped me to refine my talent and become a better limerick writer, and probably is my biggest cheerleader. The trick I did in line 5 is one she uses a lot, and quite well.
There's a woman I know, Suzanne Heymann
With a limerick, isn't a layman
I think most would agree
It is not hard to see
That her poetry she will find fame in.
Thank you for all of your help.
